You can now create characters using the points based character creation system from the Shadowrun Companion book. This allows you more control over exactly how many skills, attributes and resources you get at chargen. Don't worry though, the priority system is still in there if you want to use it.
Along with this in recent weeks there have also been a plethora of other enhancements. Including new initiations policy and code, the supplementry costs are available here. Along with that melee combat has also changed, with reach being added in. This gives larger races and people using longer weapons an advantage in combat. Those bigger, uglier races can now also take advantage of their dermal deposit armour bonus.
The game's economy has also been changed, mobs and autoruns have had their payouts lowered and the matri x takes longer to recharge paydata prices. This is in an effort to stem the endless flood of nuyen on the mud which has rendered it nearly useless.
Along with these changes many minor changes, back end changes and bug fixes have also been put in.[/url]

I agree with you, Des. The autoruns weren't really big payers as it was and now we are gonna get even less from them as well as the mobs and paydata. I hope that the cost of renting apartments and such have also been lowered otherwise it will be nearly impossible for anyone to keep an apartment if they live anywhere other then Redmond or the OU. I won't even mention the cost of getting new cyberware and bioware. I had a hard enough time making money for that before and now it will be nearly impossible to make the nuyen to buy upgrades. I know I may sound like I'm complaining and I guess I am. But honestly, what is the big deal with people trying to make a lot of money for their character if it isn't being done through bug or code abuse?

You do have a point there, Des. It does allow for a more fair economy. I am only saying that I hope that the cost of apartment rentals is adjusted accordingly. It was difficult to get make enough money on just autoruns to afford anything other then the OU or Redmond and with the new economy integrated in the MUD it will be almost impossible to afford an apartment at Homewood or the higher price ones at Evergreen. As I currently have one at Homewood, thankfully I payed quite a while in advance too, I would like to be able to keep it mainly due to it's location in relation to all of my character's haunts and what have you. I'm probably done with cyber and bio upgrades for him so mainly I just need money to maintain his apartment.

Matrix income potential lowered: Good.
Getting rich from farming mobs gone: Good, I guess.
Lowering run payouts: Ouch.
Autorun payouts were in no way too high.
All of a sudden, the Mud the mud has become -work-. You gotta work for a long time to get enough for a big piece of cyber. I don't mean a little long time. Hell, now to init it's gonna take forever to save up enough. And not just time wait, but lots of effort -and- wait. Doing a run for the 100th time was fine when it was for fun and extra karma. Now I -have- to do it 100 times to get enough nuyen to advance myself?? Ouch.
I like the playing around with the economy. That's great. It was -too- easy to get rich, not that I minded that at all. Really, I didn't.
But now it's way -too- hard to get ahead. I think people come to the mud to play, not to have to work hard and invest their time to get a piece or an init and then be back at ground zero.
For me, all of a sudden the mud has become not fun.
I haven't been on much at all (which is because my cat just had to be put down, I just moved to california, and now my dog is dying [WTF!!?]) and while I will be back...I really really hope something changes again with the economy.
I'm here to play, not to work.

Okay, here's my opinion. Run payouts needed looking at, mostly in terms of making it more consistent I felt. Having the Juan Garcia run pay 30k was a little much, but on the flip side the SK particle accelerator run I felt paid a little stingily to begin with for the amount of fighting involved.
Did the run hitting the Dawgs in Portland, paid 6800 yen. 6800 where it once was in the twenty thousands, the higher end at that. It paid 5 karma. Now karma is nice, but not a lot of use without cash to pay for skills unless you're a mage or to a lesser extent adept and even then they need cash for inits. It's becoming impractical to use assault rifle ammo from STK, with a price of around 1k yen per 42 round clip.
Now I appreciate this is Che's mud, but I think it went a little too far the other way. That same run to hit the Dawgs that paid 6800 yen and 5 karma? My personal view is it would be better off with something like 15-20k yen with 3 karma. A medium between the two, and a slight reduction in the karma payout.
It would have been nice for a consistent ratio of base pay to karma, and at least a consistent pay rate based on difficulty etc. In addition to difficulty I personally include things like ammo required and the intensity of fighting.
I'm having to loot the bodies of everyone I kill. Some might say that's no problem, but it doesn't feel like Shadowrun to do that for an extra few hundred yen. I did the SK hit with an alt and I felt more like it was D&D with guns.
I know this is technically criticism, but I am hoping it will be taken as constructive criticism.

I remember days when I would walk into the mall and see dead corpses of all the poor mobs who just happened to have 300 nuyen on their credstick. I, for one am glad to see the economy go this way. Just don't take away all the loot because it will render combat useless as well.
Good stuff, keep the changes rolling.

On the side note. I predict the gun use will go down and melee/magic use will go up. Bullets cost money.
PS : Maybe autoruns should not be changed that much. That should be the main source of the income for shadowrunners. Farming mobs shouldn't.
Keep up the good work.
